Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy

Rooted in attachment science and decades of outcome research, EFIT helps individuals move into the depths of your own negative cycle and into the core emotional experiences that shape how they think, feel, and relate. Going deeper than our surface-level coping patterns, EFIT dives into the emotional processes that impact patterns of anxiety, loneliness, self-criticism, isolation, and mistrust in relationships.

What is EFIT?

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) operates from a point of modeling secure attachment in the therapy space. Within this safe haven, EFIT guides you into your own emotional world with the intention to reconnect with parts of self that need attunement.

EFIT teaches us to build a lasting, loving relationship to self. 

 

It does this by:

  • Identifying and providing insight into patterns that shape our interactions and behavior.

  • Accessing and navigating core emotional experiences in a safe way.

  • Developing compassion towards parts that need security.

  • And strengthening resilience and capacity for safe co-regulation.

In EFIT, when we work with the signals our mind and body have internalized, we provide space to process through and gain clarity around experiences we've carried —sometimes for years— and create confidence around handling the distress. These signals are softened and distilled in session. Together, we can navigate how to address the messages around trauma, shame, disconnect, or unresolved pain.

Validate and Accept

My Hope for You

By bringing awareness to those feelings, clients are then able validate and accept their feelings. By learning to trust and show up for parts of themselves, they develop more inner security, which otherwise might've gone neglected from experiences within insecure attachment cycles.
